An Introduction to the Motivation for Accomplishment Website
All students are motivated. They are, however, motivated in very different ways to accomplish very different things. Our hope is that you use this site as a reference while you investigate the ways motivation affects academic accomplishment. This site will be evolving, so be sure to let us know how we can make your exploration more worthwhile.

Motivation Planning Tool
This tool was developed to help parents discuss motivation with their children in order to develop plans together. It provides a way to organize your conversations and thoughts as you create a strategy. Support links are provided each step of the way for you to use as you need them.
Motivation or Mindset?
Your child's most significant challenge to accomplishment may be the belief systems he or she has about learning and about the value of effort as compared to the value of potential. Your child may have what is called a "fixed mindset" if he is a perfectionist, believes learning should come without effort, or becomes dismayed when facing a challenging new task. This video introduces you to two students who are striving to change their thinking from a fixed mindset perspective to a growth mindset perspective.
To learn more about the importance of a growth mindset and the pitfalls of a fixed mindset we encourage you to visit our Mindset for Accomplishment website. |
